Can I meet my pet’s caregiver?

Yes! We actually recommend doing this before booking your first service with us, we offer free meet-and-greets so you and your pet feel sure and comfortable with your pet care provider. We can come to you, or you come to us!

How much expereince do you have with pets?

Our Founder has 8+ years of experience with all types of pets, and our team is made up of passionate animal lovers who are all background-checked and trained in handling all types of pets. We’ve cared for dogs of all sizes and ages, cats, reptiles, and small pets.

Are your caregivers trained or certified?

Absolutely they are! Our team is background-checked, trained in pet first aid, and experienced with different pet behaviours. Whether it’s giving medication, understanding animal behaviour, or keeping everything in check during stressful moments, we know what we’re doing and always put your pet’s safety and comfort first.

How do I know my pet is in safe hands?

We treat your pets like our own, with love, patience, kindness, and professional care. We also send photo updates so you can see how they’re doing, and we follow special instructions all the way, meeting every expectation. We are here to build trust with you and your pets. If your pet has any extra needs or care, we're here to provide it wherever and whenever!

How can I trust a pet care provider to enter my home?

We totally understand that inviting someone into your home is a huge decision. That’s why all our team members at Paws Around the Block are carefully background-checked and chosen for their trustworthiness and maturity. We treat your space with the utmost respect and always let you know who is visiting and exactly when. For even more peace of mind, we have Paws Around the Block Pet Care Insurance, which includes basic liability and lost items coverage. We’ve never had to use it, but we want to make sure all our pet owners feel comfortable no matter what!

Questions regarding dog-walking

How long are your walks, and how often can I book them?

Our walks range from 15 minutes to a full hour. You choose what works best for your dog! Some pet owners book daily (2-3 times a day), others just a few times a week. We're flexible and happy to work around your schedule.

Will my dog have the same walker every time?

We do our best to make sure your dog gets the same familiar face each visit. You have the choice to pick which walker you preffer and if a change is ever needed, we'll always give you a heads-up first.

What happens if there’s an emergency during the walk?

Safety is always our priority. If anything unexpected happens, we contact you right away and follow your emergency instructions. While situations like this are extremely rare, we’re fully prepared. Our walkers stay close to home, carry your pet’s emergency contact info, and are trained in basic pet first aid. If a vet visit is ever needed when your pet is in our care, we’ll take your pet to their regular vet immediately and the visit is fully covered through our Pawsurance Protection Plan.

Do I need to be home when you come for the walk?

Nope! Most clients leave us a key, a lockbox code, or smart entry access. We’ll always make sure your pet is safe and your home is secure before we leave.

How do I update or cancel a walk?

Just send us a message or email with at least 24 hours’ notice. We’re flexible and always here to help adjust your schedule.

What should I leave out for the dog walker?

Please leave your dog's leash and harness in an obvious spot. If they need boots, jackets, or a muzzle, have those ready too. If you'd like us to bring treats or toys, just let us know!

Do you take dogs to parks or stick to local routes?

We usually stick to your neighborhood for walks, but if you request it and it’s safe to do so, we can take your dog to a nearby park or trail. Let us know your preferences when booking.

How do I know my dog is getting walked?

We send you photo updates after every walk. You’ll also get a little summary of how your dog did and anything we noticed, like if they were extra tired, playful, or had any bathroom issues.

What's included in the dog walk service?

Each walk includes water breaks, exercise, mental stimulation, and playtime using your dog’s favorite toys or our own eco-friendly toys. If you approve, we also bring treats to spoil your pet and for positive reinforcement. And don’t worry, we send photo updates during every visit!

Do you still walk dogs in bad weather?

We walk in most weather conditions, rain, snow, cold weather. But your pet's and our worker's safety comes first! If there's extreme heat, bad storms, or very icy sidewalks, we make the walks shorter or schedule for a later time if applicable.

Do you offer solo walks or only group walks?

We do both! Solo walks are offered for dogs who need individual attention, and group walks are offered for dogs who thrive in group settings. Just let us know what your dog needs and prefers and we'll make it happen.

What if my dog pulls on the leash or isn't the best walker?

No problem at all! We are specialized to handle dogs of all sizes and temperments because we get that each dog has their own unique personalities. We're patient and adapt to whatever they require, so let us know any information we'll need to know to give your dog the smoothest walk possible!

Questions Regarding Pet Sitting

What's the difference between inbound and outbound pet-sitting?

Inbound: We come to your home and care for your pet where they feel most comfortable. (If needed, you can request to have our pet-sitter stay the night).
Outbound: Your pet stays at their caregiver’s home with full-time supervision and a cozy setup.
Both options include full care, photo updates, and one-on-one attention, it’s all about what feels right for you and your pet.

Do you offer pick-up or drop-off for pet-sitting?

We offer both options for outbound stays! There is a $10 fee for either pick-up or drop-offs. It's a great option if you have no time or can't drive to us.

Can you care for pets with special requirements like medication, anxiety, or special needs?

Absolutley! W'eve cared for senior pets, anxious animals, and those who need extra special care like medication or strict feeding times. We always make sure we get to know as much as possible about your pet.

Do you provide overnight stays?

Yes! Overnight stays are available for both inbound and outbound pet-sitting. Your pet will have company all night and a comfy, safe environment. For pets who live in enclosures (like tanks or cages), we usually recommend inbound care to avoid moving their habitat unnecessarily.

Can I request updates while I’m away?

Definitely! We send regular photo updates and check-ins so you never have to wonder how your pet is doing. You’ll stay in the loop the whole time. You can request to receive updates by email or text. Just make sure you're signed up to our mailing list and never miss an update!

Can I book pet-sitting last minute?

If it’s an emergency, we’ll always try our best to help. For regular bookings, we usually need at least 3 days' notice to make sure your caregiver is available and we’ve got everything ready to go.

Will my pet be around other animals?

That’s totally up to you! Most of our outbound care is one-on-one, but some of our pet sitters have pets of their own. If your pet enjoys social time, we can plan supervised interaction. Just let us know your preference when booking.

What types of pets do you pet-sit?

We care for dogs, cats, reptiles, rabbits, and small animals like guinea pigs, parrots, and more. If you’re unsure whether we can accommodate your pet, feel free to reach out and ask!

What's the longest time you'll care for a pet?

We offer pet-sitting for up to one full month. For anything longer than a week, we usually recommend outbound stays so our sitters aren’t in your home too long, or we can rotate between team members. For pets who don’t need overnight or long hours of supervision, check out our Check-Ins page. It’s a flexible and reliable option for reptiles, small animals, and more.

How do I book a service?

You can request a booking by filling out our booking form linked on every page on our site. Just choose the services you're interested in and give us a bit of info about your pet. Once we get your request, we’ll reach out within 24 hours to confirm the details!

Do I need to pay before I book a service?

Nope! Since every booking is personalized, we confirm the details with you first. Once everything’s set, we’ll provide you with payment instructions before your service begins.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept e-transfers and cash at the moment. Since we’re a local service built on trust, we like to keep things simple and secure.

Can I reschedule or cancel a booking?

Yes, just give us 24 hours’ notice and we’ll happily reschedule or cancel at no cost. We get that things happen so we’re flexible.

Is there a deposit required for longer services?

For services longer than a week, we usually ask for a small deposit to hold your spot. We’ll let you know the exact amount when we confirm your booking.

What if I need recurring services (daily/weekly)?

That’s our specialty! Whether you need daily dog walks or weekly check-ins, we can set up a recurring schedule that fits your lifestyle. Just let us know your routine and we’ll take care of it.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 3–5 days in advance, especially for pet-sitting or longer services. But if you need something sooner, just ask and we’ll do our best to help!

Can I get an invoice or receipt for my payment?

Absolutely. We can provide a receipt or digital invoice for any service. Just let us know at the time of payment and we’ll make sure you have a record for your files.

Do you offer packages or bundles for multiple bookings?

Yes! If you're booking services for multiple days or have more than one pet, let us know, we often create custom bundles with discounted pricing for returning clients.

Are there any discounts or referral perks?

Definitely. When you refer a friend, both of you get a special discount on your next service! We love rewarding our loyal pet parents.
